OOC: Info Post, Summer II 2011

Weeeell, I've got nothing to do and I have two whole newbies to write about (get excited), so here goes an info post! Which appears to be ahead of the bandwagon this time around was waiting for the friendslist update but is now up! Yeah. Check that out.

Miley Ray Stewart (Hannah Montana), its_theclimb  



Right-o, so Miley (Stewart! Not Cyrus, omg!) here is just an ordinary southern teenager... who lives a double life as the mega-huge pop star Hannah Montana, keeping up her secret identity by means of a blond wig and designer clothes. She "invented" Hannah when she was twelve and has spent the past five years getting into various hijinks with the intent of allowing her to be a pop star and still live a normal life. I know. Disney logic for you.

In Miley's world, Hannah Montana is hugely famous. If anyone wants their character to have heard of HM, that'd be awesome, especially since Miley is going to assume that people here are familiar with her. There might be an iCarly appearance in the works, ahem.

And on that note, mindready types who will know about the Hannah thing? That is totally cool to pick up on, but I'd prefer you not to bring it up in a conversation with her without OOC permission. Miley will be scrambling to keep her secret here, and while she probably will tell some people, I don't necessarily want it getting out all at once. But if you do want your character to find out, just talk to me and I'm sure we can work out something fun and plotty. :D

In other news, some of my icons for her are going to look all tiny and wee, because boy has Miley Cyrus grown up fast. (I love her. Don't mind me.) But my Miley is coming in around 16-almost-17 for senior year, so she's not quiiite as wee as some of the icons would make her seem.

Personality-wise, Miley is... kind of bratty, and definitely used to getting her way, but she always learns from her crazy schemes. She's very outgoing, and although she's bummed about spending her senior year at a whole new school, she'll get used to it.

Oh! Fandom thing: I know there was a Miley here a while back, and that is okay to mention to her, although if you found out the Hannah secret from that Miley, same request as above. :)

Things you should know about Miley: 

• You will hear her use various catchphrases a lot. That's not me, it's Disney. Some of her favorites are "Say what?" and "Oh, sweet niblets." It's a Disney southern thing.
• She's from Crowley Corners, Tennessee.
• She has a horse named BlueJeans who she's bringing with her.
• And a teddy bear named Beary Bear. Shh.
• If you find her in the common room cooking something? It might be catfish stew. With eyeballs.
• She always wears a lucky bracelet, which her best friend Lilly gave her, and a lucky anklet, which her mother gave her. Way to forget your already-specified-as-special jewelry, canon.
• Her mother died of some unspecificied disease; thanks, canon cancer six or seven years ago.
• She doesn't really want to be at Fandom, as she and her best friend were excited about being seniors together at the same school, so there will be brattiness.
• If you're wondering just how famous Hannah Montana is, she's basically on a Justin Bieber level with kids and preteens, and some teenagers as well.

Neal Caffrey (White Collar), charming_thief  



Neal is the con man who can currently be seen on the White Collar billboard across the street from my apartment. Mmm. Oh, right, and apparently there's a TV show to go along with it.

Yes. So. Con man. Or if you want to be technical about it, an ex-con man with a bit of a schemer side to him. (I know, I know. I have a type. It's an issue.) He was the bane of FBI agent Peter Burke's existance for a long time through his use of all kinds of tricks and cons, including bond forgery and art theft and so much more. He is also, as his username suggests, intensely charming, and his actor, Matt Bomer, described him as follows: 

"He had the veneer of the charming, hyper-intelligent, eloquent, sly mastermind, but underneath, he was really a kind of diehard romantic who would go to any lengths to find the love of his life."

He broke out of jail in the first episode of White Collar despite having only a few months left on a four-year term, all because his girlfriend was going to leave him. And how did he break out of jail? He stopped shaving, then grew a beard, and then shaved it all off again so no one would recognize him. Crafty and romantic, that's Neal in a nutshell.

In canon, the FBI pulled him out of jail so that he could consult on various white collar crimes, but my Neal went ahead and did himself one better: he talked his way into a teaching gig at Fandom, promising not to pull any more cons while he's here.

Things you should know about Neal: 

• He wears a tracking anklet that is fairly noticable, if you happen to look at his feet. That's so that if he leaves the island, the FBI will know about it. If your character wants to notice that he has that on, either by super-sekrit-tech-sensors or simple human observation, that is totes fine by me.
• He will flirt with aaaall the attractive women he sees. The of-age ones, anyway. He's not creepy.
• He has a thing about vintage suits.
• Those baby blues are notoriously good at getting what he wants. Fear them.
• The forgery/art theft thing? It's because he's an incredible artist.

 

Neal is going to try to be good here in Fandom, but if you need anything forged/stolen/otherwise lifted from its proper owner? Neal is the person to go to. If you can pay him enough. Ahem.

And the non-newbies!

Christopher "Topher" Brink (Dollhouse), dollpocalypse  

• A genius of the Omnidisciplinary Scientist variety. He knows brains, computers, all sorts of science... think Fred Burkle with twitchy hands and no moral conscience.
• Is helping lockestheway  do eeeevil computery hacky things. For a salary, no less.
• Has managed to offend a staggering amount of people so far.
• Is rude, obnoxious, and otherwise immature.
• Is scared of sex. Shut up, tripledmyself.
• Is an enormous nerd, and yes, maybe saved a whole bunch of spider parts to play with.
• Has a staggering lack of respect for the rights of people who he perceives to be less intelligent than he is. Which is mostly everyone.
• Will one day start the apocalypse dollpocalypse, but it'll really be an accident and until then he's just a nerd.

Wesley Wyndam-Pryce (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel), wesleynotponcy  

• Is was aspires to be used to be a Watcher, which basically means he used to help vampire Slayers learn how to kill demons properly. He puts it more eloquently than I do.
• Is good with guns, swords, and pretty much most weapons.
• Is taken! Yup. By the lovely thegirl_onfire, whose canon should stop making me cry eventually, but who really knows.
• Will, like Miley, be taking occasional jaunts off-island, except not so much to sing pop music and more to go kill demons.
• Spent his life studying at the Watchers' Academy in Southern Hampshire, learning things about vampires, demons, mystical stuff, magic, dimensional portals, and so on, in the hopes of eventually being called as Watcher to the active Slayer. He was their straight-A student until he was assigned to actually help Watch in California, at which point one slayer went rogue and the other went evil, and he was fired.
• Is British.
• Has library shifts on Fridays if you want to come ask him things!

• I live in New York City, which puts me on Eastern Time until September.
• I'm starting at Northwestern University in the fall. I know, I'm wee.
• Which will put me on Central Time for the rest of ever, even though EST will always be my home timezone.
• I've been in this game for a year now, whee! :D
• I have nothing to do for the next four months, hence the two new characters to keep me busy! And let's be honest, even when I do have stuff to do, the smartphone comes out and I end up RPing anyway.
